Your big day is rapidly approaching. You want everything to go perfectly. That includes the food you’ll be serving your guests. You want to stick to your Paleo guns and go all caveman wedding, but you don’t want anyone to feel left out.
You know who I’m talking about. There are always going to be a few guests who will cringe when you mention that all the food served is going to be Paleo-approved.
Some of your guests might even ask what that means. Then you’ll have those who are more diplomatic. They won’t say anything but you can tell by the look on their face that they’re thinking, “Oh no. The food’s going to stink, or be average at best.”
Don’t worry, you’ve got this.
Just use the following tips below to throw a Paleo-friendly wedding and everyone will rave about the food.
Don’t Forget the Adult Beverages
Okay, so alcohol is not strictly Paleo-approved. While you’re dedicated to eating clean, don’t forget that some of your guests will be expecting an adult beverage. To keep the non-Paleo people happy, serve organic red and white wine.
Consider brandy and cognac, tequila and champagne. These are Paleo-friendlier alcohols, and while no alcohol is consumed by strict Paleo adherents, these adult beverages can help your crowd relax and have some fun.
Everybody Likes Bacon, Right?
How about serving bacon wrapped shrimp appetizers? Bacon is pretty much universally loved by men and women, except vegetarians and vegans of course. For those folks (and everyone else) you can opt for vegetarian bacon, also referred to as facon.
Paleo Ice Cream
You’ll probably have more than a few guests who refuse to eat healthy. There’s no need to twist their arm and force them to believe that what you serve them is better than highly processed alternatives. For instance, there are plenty of Paleo ice cream recipes that are incredibly delicious.
They run the gamut of flavors and textures, and use dairy milk alternatives such as almond milk and coconut milk.
Serve Food That the Average Person Doesn’t Know Is Paleo
Cauliflower can be used to make pizza crusts. There are broccoli alternatives to white rice as well. While they don’t taste exactly like their unhealthier rice alternative, you can disguise a little bit of the difference with sauces and healthy oils.
Meatballs made of ground chicken, beef or pork can be served in a healthy Paleo tomato sauce. What wedding would be complete without finger sandwiches? There are so many recipes for Paleo-approved bread using almond or coconut flour rather than processed white flour. Use them to make sandwiches that your guests will assume is the regular bread they’re used to eating.
Make These Paleo Baking Swaps
A caterer experienced in handling Paleo weddings will know what to do here. If you or someone in your family is doing the baking, you can “Paleofy” foods like flour, eggs, sugar and fat. We just mentioned swapping out refined flour for almond or coconut flour.
Paleo oils like avocado oil, coconut oil, palm oil and extra-virgin olive oil can usually be swapped for even amounts of other unhealthier oils. If you want a Chia egg alternative, do this. Add 1 teaspoon ground Chia seeds and 2 1/2 tablespoons water. Stir and allow to sit for about 5 minutes so it gels. That’s the equivalent of one egg in most baking recipes.
